- Students are connecting with the adults in the building. So far they have embraced (and look out for!) every challenge from the adults that stop by. Parnell is starting to have a following and, as Hillgrove's own Mr. Miyagi, is making even more of a connection with our students. You are invited to come challenge a student to a game, it's a fun experience!
- Students are wanting to come to school. It was overheard just this week...."I can't wait to play again tomorrow". It is a good thing when we can give our students any reason to be happy about being here. And they are gracious, stopping and thanking us for the opportunity to play. Adults appreciate a stress break during the day, the students are the same.
- The library is on fleek. (True that! Overheard on Monday.) Now, we know we are not here to be cool and we all know the library exists to support some serious work. But. If we can get the students in to play ping pong (....or sit with a friend on the couch or take a quiet moment for themselves....) they might begin to see the other things we offer. They might realize there is a wealth of resources and expertise here for their taking. We tell them and YOU tell them but sometimes some students just need to discover things for themselves. Getting them in the door is a start we appreciate.
- It will prepare our students for the Ivy Leagues. I kid you not. (Other colleges too!)
- We understand, this is a bit different and not at all like the libraries any of us started out in. We always take your concerns and ideas anytime you'd like to share and are always striving to make our space work for every need.
- Have a student that needs an extra nudge to follow the scholarly route when you send them down? Shoot us an email (dl-hil-mediacenter ~ always best to contact us all!) and we will encourage that student for you when they get here. Let's work together for deliberate success!
- Come play a round. Then decide?
game on. @ your library.
